WE HAVE MOVED

**UPDATED MAY 6, 2012**
I have moved my blog so click here and it will bring you there. I will delete this one after I make sure I have transferred over all my posts.

After losing two blogs and six years worth of journaling I don't want that to happen again.

Good To Be Home

It is great being home and getting back to normal. I have not done any scrapping since I've been home, I've wanted to be near DH and catch up; if you know what I mean. So instead of burrowing away in my craft studio I've been sitting with him and knitting. That way we can be near each other.

I finished the child's sock and started on a throw rug. I just bought some cheapie Lion's Brand Homespun, cast on 100 stitches on a size 15 circular. I do like the colours as they match my house colours - sage and lavender, there is very light aqua and tan thrown in but that is just fine. I also bought a skein of lavendar and I'll either alternate a certain amount of rows or use it to finish off the edges. It is nothing fancy, just a rug that I can put under my cat's bowls.

I never did mention my trip from Connecticut to NY. Again I made sure that we took it nice and easy even though it is only an hour and a half drive LOL I made it a four hour drive. We stopped in Millerton where Harney and Sons Tea Co., is located and bought some wounderful Earl Grey - oh the scent is to die for. They also had a blend of Earl Grey with Roses and I picked up a tin of that. I haven't had a chance to try it yet, but the aroma from the loose tea is heaven. I thought since I really enjoyed Earl Grey and love roses I couldn't go wrong. I picked up a sampler box of teas and tried their Paris - oh the aroma on this tea is awesome, if you want a tea that just lets you sit back and bath in its aroma this is the one. I wasn't to keen on the taste but it will do.

What is nice about this drive is that you go through many small towns that have the greatest shops. I really didn't look for any scapbook stores as I really didn't need anything; I have four albums planned out and for two of them I have pretty much everything I need. However, I did search for local yarn shops. I hit gold just before Rhinebeck and Red Hook. We were sitting at a red light at a fork in the road and deciding if we should head towards Rhinebeck or go towards Red Hook when I looked to the right and there was a store called Sheeps Clothing. Well of course I figured this had to be a yarn shop. Boy did I hit jackpot. It was Morehouse Merino's own store. This is the yarn I picked up:
All lace weight except the hank second from left, which I plan on making a headband from. They had kits for this and samples knit up and I just loved the way the colours melded, but they didn't have this yarn in a kit so I just bought the yarn.

I also stopped at Amazing Threads in Lake Katrina, NY but I wasn't really thrilled with the store. I think they were gearing up for a class or some sort of knit meet and no one was to anxious to help. I am really looking for a great cardi or some sort of sweater to knit and I could have used help in deciding the yarn, but oh well. I did purchase this copper thing that looked like it was Tibetan and it stated on the sign that you could store your dpn's in. It was really cute so I picked that up and they had these great looking baskets pretty reasonable so I bought one of those in a berry colour. The problem was the way there accessories are you cannot really look at the products. The baskets were hanging on a wall and you really couldn't get a good look at them because you would have to cut the ties holding them. I did get a good look once I made it to my parents and was very disappointed. The inside of mine was pretty badly chewed up so you could forget about putting yarn in it as it would definitely snag. The copper dpn holder was so cheapely made it would fall apart just by holding it. I had my Mom return the items for me as she lives nearby. Turns out that they will not refund your money you only get store credit, but as I was from NC and had headed home they made an exception and gave me a refund.

Those were my three memorable stops on my way to my parents in NY. I will definitely go back to Morehouse next time I'm up there.

26 Days Is A Long Time To Be Away From Home

WOW! Am I glad to be back. We left the 28th of October for Ct. and it took us two days. I told my brother I wasn't going to do this trip in one day - it just takes to much out of me. I spent three week in Granby taking care of my two nieces. OMG are they the sweetest.

There is a great scrapbooking store called Three Scrappy Ladies in Canton Ct. which is about 15 minutes from my brothers, I found the 8.5 x 11 scrapbook I need for my sons play that I'm doing. Michael's also had a 50% coupon and I picked up the Chatterbox 12 x 12 album kit. That was definitely a great deal.

I also met my a friend from college (I was a non-traditional student and so was she) in NH. I didn't realize how close she was to my brother - 2 hours. She had a Michael's that just opened and they were having a grand opening so we did some damage in there. I picked up the Slab for 7 dollars, I couldn't believe it.

There are also three great yarn shops; one in Granby and two in Avon. Naturally I had to pick up yarn. I mostly bought sock yarn, but in Marji's in Granby I also bought some wool and made a sampler scarf.

My chuch has a silent auction every year and this year I am going to donate a scarf and a pair of socks.

The sock on the left I started and finished in Ct. The pair on the left I had started and I finished them while in Ct.

I will try to get a better picture of the scarf.

I didn't do any scrapbooking while there, but I did take lots of pictures.

Oh well more tomorrow.

Have a great day!

Great Service/Poor Service

I received my Snapfish photos today, and they are awesome, they came out great. I uploaded a lot of photos on Friday and picked the ones I wanted to order. They said on the website that it takes 2 - 3 days for developing and just as many for delivery, I wasn't expecting them for a week and was very shocked that on Saturday I received an email telling me they were done and the next business day they will be mailed. The UPS guy delivered them yesterday. One set that I uploaded was of my DS2 3rd grade play. The pictures I had were horrible, I scanned them and tried to fix them but I couldn't do a lot for them and they printed out horrible for me. I was leary about having these printed but they came back wonderful. I can definitely scrapbook these photos, so that will be on my agenda when I get back. Nope scratch that, I will need to finish up Christmas presents when I get back.

Yesterday DH picked me up and we did some shopping and went to get tires on our car. The place closes at 7:00 and we were there about 4:45, but let's say 5. They tell DH that they can do it but he will have to wait about an hour, hour and half. Needless to say after waiting, they tell him they can't do it. One guy kept saying, 'you know we close at 7, you know we close at 7.' So we left and went to another store but same chain. It was 6:30, they also close at 7, but said no problem and took the car. DH was so pissed, don't blame him. Naturally he wants me to send a letter, but this time to praise the other store for their wonderful service.

Well hopefully I will be able to post while in Ct. I don't know if I mentioned this or not, but my brother and SIL are sending me to Ct., they need me to play nanny until they hire one. I will have a blast playing with my two nieces.
