BUTTONS, BUTTONS WHO HAS THE BUTTON!!
We took a trip to NY in June for my niece's wedding. WOW! Was she a beautiful bride, and the groom wasn't to bad either LOL.
Well before going my Mom called and told me that we will have carte blanche to go through a friend of the family's sewing things. A dear friend of ours had passed away a few years ago and his partner is finally selling the house. He told Mom that we are welcome to come and take whatever we need. Well I tell you, I sorted through button for a solid week. I am not kidding. I got so many buttons and they are all so gorgeous. They are bone, pearl, wood, metal, you name it. I also received a lot of thread along with a board that someone made to hang all the thread on.
A lot of fabric and some wonderful ribbon. He was of German descent and he must have liked that style because it is of the Bavarian/Swiss style, with the Edelweiss and reds and blues. There are some really pretty pink flower ones, just gorgeous. I also received a lot of miscellaneous items, but all will be put to good use that is for sure. Okay what got me going on this is that I am thinking of making a bed set for our MB. I found this lovely pink rose all cotton shower curtain and bought a couple of flat sheets. I am going to cut a strip off the curtain and sew it onto the flat sheet, so when you fold the sheet down you will see the design. I will also cut out a few flowers from the curtain and sew them on pillowcases that I intend to make from one of the sheets. I use European pillows and it is so hard to find the right size cases for them. I also thought since the design is a shower curtan and it has the holes to hang the hooks I will go get another one and make a comforter out of it. It is a little smaller than my bed size so I thought I would get a pink sheet and cut the curtain into four squares and sew them on the sheet. So I need to head to Wally world or someplace for a flat pink sheet. I definitely do not lack thread, needles or even buttons for this project. Hmmm, I think some of the wonderful ribbon might work on the edge...........
Have a wonderful 13th.
